Simpson Estate

Welcome to Simpson Estate

The remarkable terroir of the Simpson Estate vineyard is complemented by the expertise and efforts of our award-winning viticulturalists and winemaker team to produce some of the Margaret River Wine Region’s finest wines.

Featured Wines

This is the first release of a 6 bottle mixed case, comprising 3 vintages of Cabernets, 2 Shirazes and a Chardonnay.

The specific wines are the:

  • 2014, 2015 and 2016 Jenny Cabernet Sauvignon
  • 2014 and 2016 Brian Shiraz
  • 2018 Elaine Chardonnay

The perfect means of achieving familiarity with more wines in the Simpson Estate range, without the need to purchase a dozen of each.

The three Jenny Cabernets exhibit the differences of the three vintages, whilst the 2014 Brian Shiraz, crafted in a Rhône style, contrasts to the typical Margaret River shiraz characteristics of the 2016 Brian. Even for red wine drinkers, the Elaine Chardonnay, our biggest selling wine, is a must.

The 2013 vintage enjoyed a perfect ripening season.

The hand picked fruit is a Bordeaux-inspired blend of 68% cabernet sauvignon and 32% merlot, seeing 18 months on 43% new French oak. The nose is of ripe blackcurrant, cedar, violets, chocolate, dried and choc mint and charry oak.

The wine has a complex palate, great balance, full and chalky tannins, with creamy vanilla oak and a long finish. Lovely mid-palate juiciness is obtained from the merlot. Drinking superbly at bottling, this fine wine will only improve with good cellaring until at least 2023.

The 2014 vintage benefited from another perfect ripening season. All fruit was hand-picked and matured for 18 months in 36% new French oak. The wine is a deep crimson in colour, with purple hints and a clear rim. The intense nose exhibits blackcurrant, cherry, mulberry and some coffee bean. On the palate, the wine displays blackcurrant, vanilla bean, mulberries, as well as some chocolate and cedar. Full tannins complement great length and a clean finish. Stored for a year after bottling, this vintage will reward careful cellaring until at least 2025.

A slightly cooler and wet March enabled a longer ripening season in 2015, resulting in another excellent vintage. The hand-picked fruit comprised 92% cabernet sauvignon and 8% merlot, which was matured over 19 months in 40% new French oak. The nose provides dense fruit and some earthy tones, with mulberry, cassis, mocha, dried bay leaf, cardamom and cigar box evident. The palate presents rich, dark fruits, including dried plum. The wine is of fine, dusty tannins, well integrated oak and a long, elegant finish.
